We have seen a lot of parents/unpaid carers enquiring whether they’re prioritised for the Covid-19 vaccination. Carers UK issued a press release stating unpaid carers were to be included in priority group 6 for the Covid-19 jab, you can read the full press release here.
However please note you must be coded as a carer on your GP’s system to be included. If you are unsure, you need to contact your GP to make sure it is on their system.
Currently, there are two approved treatments for SMA: risdiplam and nusinersen. This year the Managed Access Agreement for Spinraza and Risdiplam expires. The MAA was put in place five years ago so the pharmaceutical companies could gather more evidence to resubmit to NICE for approval on the NHS with Biogen extending their MAA by a year.
